Abdominal Imaging Fellowship

Jackson Memorial Hospital offers a one year Fellowship funded by The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami. The fellowship-training program offers training in abdominal and pelvis imaging. Rotations include CT, MRI, PET-CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy/plain radiography. Elective time of one month and opportunity for research is available. Fellows participate in general teaching and research activities and attend a weekly conference.

Abdominal imaging fellows are an integral member of the division, participating in daily interpretation, and timely reporting of abdominal imaging studies.

In the ultrasound rotation the fellow will learn to scan with the sonographers having opportunity to read a big volume of transplant cases, vascular ultrasound, as well as general ultrasound. Jackson Memorial Hospital is a reference transplant center in the south Florida region and the fellows acquire significant experience in evaluating liver, renal and pancreas transplants.

In The CT rotation the fellow receive instruction in abdominal diseases in the inpatient and outpatient settings as well as oncology training included staging and diagnosis of cancer.

During the MRI rotation the fellow is expose to general cases including dynamic pelvic floor evaluation, abnormal placentation and MR Enterography as well as oncologic staging with emphasis in liver, gynecologic and prostatic and rectal malignancies.

The fellows responsibilities include assisting the attending staff in resident education and training. The fellowship focuses on achieving a comprehensive understanding of the basic principles of abdominal imaging including MRI and CT imaging protocol optimization. The fellow has opportunities to present at the multidisciplinary tumor boards as well as at the weekly abdominal radiology conference.

Breast Imaging Fellowship

Jackson Memorial Hospital offers a one year fellowship funded by The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami. The fellowship includes training in digital mammography both full field digital mammography and tomosynthesis and synthetic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and multi modality breast interventional procedures. Fellows will split their time rotating through both the Taylor Breast Center and The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Both centers are high volume clinical services, with state of the art equipment, including Hologic digital breast tomosynthesis, high resolution ultrasound, prone and upright Hologic AFFIRM tomosynthesis stereotactic biopsy units, as well as numerous 1.5 and 3.0 T magnets with breast imaging and intervention capabilities.  The breast imaging fellow will participate in all facets of the clinical practice. In addition to the rich clinical experience, fellows will be expected to participate in teaching residents and medical students, clinical research, journal club, and weekly multidisciplinary conferences.

Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship

Jackson Memorial Hospital offers a one year Fellowship funded by The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami. This is a comprehensive cardiothoracic imaging fellowship that will focus on cardiac CT and MRI but will also offer thoracic advanced imaging including MRI, MRA and CTA. The fellowship offers a diverse experience. The cardiac program offers a diverse experience with all aspects of cardiac care including coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre and post heart transplant, pediatric and adult congenital disease, acute cardiac care, and pre-procedural imaging for TAVR and left atrial ablation. Quantitative post processing will also be emphasized. The department has state of the art equipment including 3T and 1.5T MR, and dual-source, 128, and 320 slice CT scanners.

Emergency Radiology Imaging Fellowship

Jackson Memorial Hospital offers a one year Fellowship position funded by The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami. The primary focus of the ER and Trauma Radiology fellowship is to provide advanced post-graduate training in the imaging of acutely ill and injured adult and pediatric patients at a multi-practice center. Fellows will be exposed to high volumes and a diverse array of traumatic injuries and disease processes preparing them for careers in both academic and private practice settings. By the end of the year the fellows will have developed the essential skills needed to manage a busy and complex ER/Trauma Radiology practice.

Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship

Jackson Memorial Hospital offers a one year Fellowship funded by The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami. The University of Miami Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship offers state-of-the-art training in diagnostic radiography, MRI, CT and ultrasound. Fellows are exposed to multimodality cases in sports medicine, musculoskeletal oncology, orthopaedic trauma, peripheral nerve imaging, and rheumatology. Fellows will perform CT and ultrasound guided interventional and diagnostic procedures including arthrograms, bone and soft tissue tumor biopsies, tendon injections and nerve blocks. The service has an active Sports Medicine component with close interaction with both major league and college athletics. We are a busy tertiary referral center for soft tissue and bone tumors, with weekly interdisciplinary conferences. There are ample opportunities for research and publication. UM has multiple 1.5 T and 3.0T MR Scanners on campus and at outpatient clinics across South Florida. The University of Miami is affiliated with Jackson Memorial Hospital, a 1,550 bed major teaching hospital with a high-volume level 1 trauma center.

We participate in the MSK Radiology Fellowship match, and will accept the SSR common application. Interviews will take place beginning in November of each application cycle.
